Starlight
Avril Shakira Villar Zamboanga City, Philippines π΅π
Every human on earth holds a star within their palm
It glows with a unique radiance
Depends on how we handle the brilliance
On how we wait for our moment
On how we carry our vision towards conquering dreams
But the light slowly dims
When we deny our purpose
When we neglect ourselves
When we abandon a pursuit
Because life becomes emotionally abusive
We stumble along the way through setbacks
But we should never back down
Hold your star steadfastly even after pursuing your dreams
And weβll be the light of the next generation
Even after our earthly journey
We are all the protagonist of our own books
And the author of our life
Our worth depends on how we portray our characters
May our stories inspire the youthful minds
May we be remembered.

Meaning of the Work
These poems cover a range of themes and emotions based on my real-life experiences. I consider my pieces creative non-fiction, wherein I fearlessly and boldly express socio-political commentary alongside personal reflections.
