I Can’t Wait

By: Hala Mousa 🕊 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦

I haven’t watched the notebook

not yet that is

I am waiting for the right person

the one that’ll hug me tight while we both cry

the one that’ll blot down my tears before theirs

we don’t need to have a romantic relationship

it can be platonic

actually

I hope it will be

for friends are the best soulmates

their heart always embraces yours

in a way that’s different than romantic partners

for no matter how far apart

literally and metaphorically

they will always love you

in fact

they’ll love you after you changed

and after you’ve wronged them

and you will do so too

you will hug their soul like they do yours

you will make sure love reaches them

for that is what matters

I am not sure I have met this person

but if I have

I can’t wait to watch the notebook together

I can’t wait to lean on your shoulder and sniffle while feeling you shiver

I can’t wait to find you again

again but in a different light

one that shines bright with love and care

one that twinkles at me every time I look

you’ll be the star I stole from space

and I hope I’ll be yours
