Echoes Through the Lenses

Meaning of the Work

β€œMy piece is called echoes through the lens, the different layers enlarging from the phone behind create an β€œecho” like feeling. The warm tone creates a welcoming feeling that feels familiar. It also interplays between reality and perception as bright warm lights can also be intimate and mysterious. The reflections from the phone screen shows the modern relationship between identity and digital representation which is a common feature nowadays.I used this effect to show that behind the camera, there are many different layers, stories feelings and unknown mysteries hidden behind the lenses. In the modern world where social media is an essential in daily life, it’s difficult for people to see the difference between real or fake and read between the lines. Not everything you see in these pictures can be the full story or the whole truth. The layers make the viewers question what is real and what is a reflection as they are seemingly distorted. This photograph conveys the reality of the relationship between self presentation vs a fragmented deeper reality hiding behind the screen which is often found in the digital age.”
